Ben Arnup (ceramics)

Ben was brought up in a family of creative people. At the age of ten he travelled with his family on the European ‘Grand Tour’.

The description of space and the built environment was an early obsession. Subsequent training as a Landscape Architect informed the design process and more recently tromp l’eoile ceramics follows the special scene.

Working as a ceramic artist for 20 years Ben has developed a specific metier from a variety of sources:medieval painting,Italian church floors, modern painters such as Le Corbusier and Dirk Huizer and from the study of statistics.

New ceramic forms are also being explored involving the stretching of clay, where simple forms compliment texture and pattern.

Ben Arnup’s ceramics are in public collections in England and international private collections. He shows internationally, most recently in Philadelphia,U.S.A.
