My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life. Many are painted on the spot and are essentially personal responses to what I see. My approach is to interpret the essence of my chosen subjects with an almost casual reality, rather than producing meticulously detailed likenesses of actual places. Light is the essential ingredient which I use to energize and invigorate my work.
For over twenty five years I operated my own business as a freelance Artist and Illustrator working from my own studio in Warwickshire, having initially trained and worked as an Architect. Initially a large proportion of my work was the production of commissioned Architectural Illustration work and my clients included many of the major Property Development and Architectural Companies both in this country and abroad.
In parallel with this I pursued a fine art career and since 1978 I have exhibited and sold paintings with a variety of galleries, together with undertaking part-time teaching, lecturing, demonstrating and writing about my various painting methods and techniques.
I now paint full-time.
